What is “paripraśnena sevayā”? What are the qualifications of a student?

June 19, 2020

“It is recommended that one, first of all, develop the proper mood and mentality. There is a mood and a mentality that one should have in asking questions. That is the first point explained by Lord Krishna. hmm..praṇipāt humble. Then secondly, praśna…one be, one should be asking in that submissive mentality. Questions. And then numbers three, one should be ready and willing to engage in sevā or devotional service. So when these three components are there, there can be a productive exchange between the person asking and replying to that question.” – His Holiness R.P. Bhakti Raghava Swami |Pariprashnena Sevaya Series | March 26, 2020.

Otherwise they are doomed !

May 6, 2020

“Thus the material world is becoming more and more godless, and consequently everything is in a disturbed condition. If this continues, the Supreme Personality of Godhead will certainly take action, as He did in the case of Hiranyakasipu. Within a second, Hiranyakasipu and his followers were destroyed, and similarly if this godless civilization continues, it will be destroyed in a second, simply by the movement of one finger by the Supreme Personality of Godhead. The demons should therefore be very careful and curtail their godless civilization. They should take advantage of the Krishna Consciousness movement and become faithful to the Supreme Personality of Godhead; otherwise they are doomed. As Hiranyakasipu was killed in a second, the godless civilization can be destroyed at any moment.” His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. SB 7.8.31 – Purport

It is a Life-Threatening Situation

April 13, 2020

“As we were, in the last 2 years, going from village to village, asking different questions to both leaders and the farmers, so one of the questions was in relation to how many cows they have in the village and what is, how many cows they have personally. And again and again, so many people would say “my father, used to have” ten, twenty, thirty. One family! One family thirty cows was not uncommon. But now if you find thirty cows in a village??? What used to be the standard for one family, now is not even the standard in some villages; that have less than thirty cows. So this, this is a, we should understand actually, it is a life-threatening situation. It is life-threatening, life-threatening means one can die, you know, just like when somebody gets a disease. Disease? Virus, life-threatening virus. If we don’t… ya… take… if we don’t reverse the situation then we are severely affected.” –His Holiness R.P. Bhakti Raghava Swami, Bhagavatam Class, SSKBK, Hebri, March 26, 2020

Great Devotee of The Lord

March 21, 2020

“And one does not have to… Or one does not become a great devotee of the lord simply by being in the temple. There are many gardens around. There are many cows around. Krishna becomes more happy, more pleased, when we are serving the cows and making Krishna Balaram’s garden more and more beautiful. He is more happy to see that than to be just sitting in the front and falling asleep chanting japa. Chanting japa is very nice and important but serving in a practical way………” – His Holiness RP Bhakti Raghava Swami Srimad Bhagavatam class. March 16, 2020. SSKBK Hebri

The golden age of Krishna Consciousness

March 3, 2020

“But this whole development[of the golden age of Krishna Consciousness as predicted by Chaitanya Mahaprabhu] will continue to be delayed as long as we delay establishing gurukulas, as long as we delay establishing varnasrama colleges, as long as we delay establishing, organizing original natural vedic villages.” — His Holiness R.P. Bhakti Raghava Swami, Bhagavatam Class, ISKCON Nizamabad, February, 14, 2020.

To Live in the City is in the Mode of Passion.

February 26, 2020

“The three modes, sattva-guṇa, rajo-guṇa and tamo-guṇa, have no entrance into the temple. It is said, therefore, that to live in the forest is in the mode of goodness, to live in the city is in the mode of passion, and to live in a brothel, liquor shop or slaughterhouse is in the mode of ignorance. But to live in the temple means to live in Vaikuṇṭhaloka. Everything in the temple is as worshipable as Lord Viṣṇu, or Kṛṣṇa. – Srila Prabhupada. Purport Srimad Bhagavatam 4.12.29

Purpose of ISKCON

February 20, 2020

“Srila Prabhupada, as the Founder-Acarya of ISKCON, has chalked out Seven Purposes for developing his spiritual organization. The sixth of these seven purposes, deals directly with the need “to bring the members closer together for the purpose of teaching a simpler, more natural way of life.” For most members of ISKCON this clearly means establishing rural communities, villages, where one can more easily introduce the concepts of “simple living and high thinking”, something truly in line with the Vedic culture, in particular an agrarian cow-based culture. And although ISKCON has established some farm communities over the years, this dimension of the mission has still largely been undeveloped throughout the larger ISKCON family.” – His Holiness R.P. Bhakti Raghava Swami. Taken from the book, “Modernity is Killing Civilisation”, Chapter 1-Introduction

Sarve Sukhino Bhavantu

December 5, 2018

Sometimes I become very eager to start a varṇāśrama college. We have nothing to do with varṇāśrama, we Kṛṣṇa…, But we want to see that the whole human society is peaceful. That is our mission. Sarve sukhino bhavantu. This is the desire of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and those who are servants of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, they should also desire how to do good to the whole human society. A Vaiṣṇava is not only interested for his own benefit. His own benefit is already done as soon as he has taken shelter of Kṛṣṇa’s lotus feet. He has nothing else desire over. Everything is finished, protected by Kṛṣṇa. Kaunteya pratijānīhi na me bhaktaḥ praṇaś… [Bg. 9.31]. But they work in the human society on behalf of Kṛṣṇa so that they may be happy, peaceful, and make progress in spiritual life. That is Vaiṣṇava’s duty. Otherwise Vaiṣṇava has nothing to ask. Kṛṣṇa knows how to help him, how to give him all protection. – Śrīla Prabhupāda (March 12, 1974, Vrndavana)

Perfect System

December 3, 2018

Of course spiritual dharma can stand on its own but for those who are conditioned here in the material world, means all of us, we need to work within a framework created by Krishna, given by Krishna and that is why Srila Bhakti Vinoda Thakura explains that even for the self-liberated soul, even for vaishnavas, very elevated vaishnavas, they respect and work within the system of varnasrama because it is created by Krishna, it is a perfect system. It is the system, one and only system in the material world whereby one can more easily advance in Krishna Consciousness, whereby society can function in its most ideal way. – HH RP Bhakti Raghava Swami
