Sahyadri Sri Krishna Balarama Ksetra, Hebri India
At the SAHYADRI SRI KRSNA BALARAM KSETRA (SSKBK) complex lives Srila Prabupada’s cherished dream of a Varnasrama College named as “Sahyadri Varnasrama College” being nestled at the foothills of the Sahyadri Mountains on the Western Ghats. SSKBK is located three kilometers from the small town of Hebri, 30 KM from Udupi where the famed 12th century preacher Sripad Madhava Acharya was born and established the popular Udupi Krishna Matt. Not unlike a picture taken straight from the pages of Srimad-Bhagavatam, village folks here take part in all types of Vedic practices such as flute playing, cow grazing and bathing in a tranquil stream that snakes its way beside the farm. A bull driven Rahta lifts water from an open well, mud bricks are hand made from the land’s natural clay soil, sugar cane juice is extracted using ox power then boiled into pure home made gur and paddy is harvested and husked by the local devotee residents. The real pride of SSKBK is its Varnasrama College that provides a 3 months course on farming, cow care and spiritual life. Blueprints have been drawn and readied for the construction of an awe inspiring Krishna Balaram temple, which, like the Sahyadri Varnasrama Collgege, looks set to continue Srila Prabhupada’s dream.
Currently Need
Immediate need to provide housing for all those who are involved with the projects (moreover, we are going to utilize ox power and will be inviting interested people to work with bulls), to purchase construction materials for building cow sheds and organizing ox training facilities, to acquire equipment for creating water supply from ponds and other bodies of water, and other inventory necessary for farming activities (sowing, tilling, transportation by using ox power, etc)
